n the early days of Personal Computing, the PCs in an office were connected to each other and organized into Local-Area-Networks or LANs. This allowed each user access to programs, shared data and expensive peripherals like laser printers, saving time and money.
The Kansas Web Network allows multiple offices in several cities to connect to each other, turning LANs in WANs or Wide-Area-Networks. In one example Kansas Web was able to save a company from duplicating their network resources at each store. They were able to connect all of their stores to a single, shared IBM AS/400 business system and to two network servers at the corporate headquarters. Individual E-mail mailboxes allow information to move throughout the entire company with great ease, cutting down dramatically the time spent copying and mailing reports.
Much the same as a network hub connects computers together in a LAN, the Kansas Web Network connects multiple offices together in a WAN. Kansas Web has contracted with Technology Consulting, Inc., a network consulting firm, to design, implement and maintain WAN connections. TCI can work with your computer specialists to create a system that will give optimal performance. They can install and configure the routers and network connections and be available should further assistance be needed.
